iOS 9 was quite a successful version of the iOS in terms of jailbreaks, with several being released throughout the year. However, towards the end, the jailbreaks changed, with some of them turning to semi-untethered jailbreaks that only worked on some devices and needed to be installed through Cydia Impactor. That led to quite a few people who updated being unable to install their tweaks through Cydia [ext link]. Even though we are now waiting for the latest iOS jailbreak, not everyone could update beyond iOS 9 and are now stuck without a jailbreak and that means no more games emulators for playing old school console games on their devices.

Many will remember GBA4iOS a being one of the most downloaded emulators in Cydia but, following Apple patching an exploit used, although the developers struggled on they have now admitted defeat and shut GBA4iOS. However, all is not lost because they have been working on a replacement and have now given us Delta Emulator. It has more features than GBA4iOS had and provides support for games from these consoles:
- Gameboy Advance
- Gameboy Color
- Nintendo 64
- Super Nintendo
More consoles will be added in future updates, depending on how popular these ones prove to be and what users request from the developer. Right now, though, Delta Emulator is being run on a closed beta program but we do have a way for you to download it on your device , be warned though, it is a beta app and we cannot guarantee success for everyone.

How to Stop Delta Emulator from Crashing :
There is one common error that all users will experience with Delta Emulator and that is that it will crash within 7 days of you installing it. This means having to reinstall it and all your emulators and starting all over again only for it to crash again. The only way to stop this from happening is to download Anti Revoke [ext link]. This tool protects the Delta Emulator app certificate and stops Apple from revoking it, thus stopping it from crashing every time you install it.
Delta Emulator Alternatives :
If Delta Emulator doesn’t have the emulators for your games, there are two alternatives that you can try :
Emus4U [ext link] is a recent app installer, released to try and provide us with what we can’t get from Cydia, in the same way that Delta Emulator does. It provides support for several different emulators although you can only download one at a time. You may find something different in there from Delta so download Emus4U and try it out, following the tutorial at the linked article
Another alternative is the Emu4iOS app installer [ext link]. Not only does it provide several different emulators, it also allows us to download other popular Cydia tweaks such as AirShou screen recorder and iRec, along with paid and premium app store content for free. To try it out, you can find a guide on how to download Emu4iOS at the given link
None of these app installers will fully replace Cydia but, for those of us who cannot update beyond iOS 9 or who can’t jailbreak right now, they are a great alternative. So, try them out, let us know what you think of them and follow us on Facebook for more tips and jailbreak news.
